History

In 1971, Wrightsdale Baptist decided to start a Missions church in New Providence. It started with 15 people in a trailer park and was named Beaver Valley Baptist Chapel. The first baptism took place in January of 1972. A modular building was bought and placed on the ground where the church is today.

In February 1979, Pastor John Fleming was called to pastor here. The church grew and the name was changed to New Providence Baptist Church. He served for twelve years and upon his retirement, three other pastors served for two to three year periods. Pastor John returned for several years as interim. We were in transition with some members moving on and some staying, with new folks coming in at the same time. God continued to bless us through it all.

In May 2006, Pastor Ron Rush came as an interim pastor and after six months sensed a definite call of God to be the Pastor full time. In January of 2007, a 96% vote confirmed God’s will. Since then, NPBC has seen a transformation of God’s spirit.
